ADVENTURES

I love to be outdoors no matter the weather.  As soon as the sun rises, my mind begins to plan an outdoor adventure. Exploring the world around me on a hike or bike ride makes me feel alive and connected to nature.

Sailing

This past summer I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a sailing camp for three weeks.  This experience had a profound effect on me because I realized just how challenging, yet peaceful it is to sail on the open water. I learned so much about sailing in three weeks because I was willing to put in the time and effort needed to be successful.  In addition to learning all the important aspects of sailing, which require good communication skills with others on the boat, I also made strong connections with my instructors. I was chosen to help with less experienced students and often paired up with students who needed more help than others.  As a result, I plan to attend this camp again next summer and have been told that there are many opportunities available to me to help the instructors. Not only do I look forward to teaching, I have much to learn and look forward to taking the next step on my sailing journey as there is nothing better than being out on the water in a sailboat.

Biking

I love a good challenge, and this past summer I completed a 14 mile bike ride along the Cape Cod Canal.  I have always loved biking as my mother taught me to ride when I was just four years old. Being outside on a bike is a great experience because you get to see so many interesting sights while also exercising.  Over the past few years, I have been working on building my biking stamina so that I can easily enjoy longer rides with my family. This summer I had the idea to ride the entire Cape Cod Canal bike trail back and forth.  At first it seemed daunting, but I believed in myself and knew I could do it.  There were times along the way that I felt tired but I did not give up because I had set this goal for myself and wanted to complete it.  When I finished riding, I was tired but elated.  Not only did I feel proud for accomplishing this goal, I look forward to setting new biking goals for this coming summer.
